Hello! I am starting this as a documentary of improvement of the model railroads I am involved with, developing my modeling skills and encouraging others to enjoy this wonderful hobby. I am hoping others will share what they know and that this can be a resource for all interested.

Who am I? My name is Jeff Bergner and I have been fascinated by trains as long as I can remember. Having an uncle who was an engineer, a grandfather that worked the track section gang, and that my childhood home was the Soo Line depot site in Forada, MN probably had a role in that.

Forada Depot drawing by John Cartwright

The drawing is very dear to me because the building in the background is the house I grew up in which at one time used to be the Forada post office. The depot was long gone off the site, even so when I was a kid. We had used the area as an impromptu baseball field. There was one small piece of concrete left from the foundation that worked well as second base. I recall seeing the depot be used for storage across the field from my house to the west and recalling the Soo Line sign still on the building which I am thinking now I would have loved to have made an offer on at the time. Not something going through the mind of a 10 year old boy however.

My current projects are my HO scale Berea, Rogers & Duluth railroad in my basement and the Valley City Hi-Line railroad featured at the Barnes County Historical Society museum.
